FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) – Witnesses have reported a police presence Wednesday near the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in Frankfort.
Kentucky State Police received a call around 3 p.m. regarding a possible person with a firearm in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Mayo Underwood Building on Mero Street. According to Frankfort police, the U.S. Marshal Service and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office worked to clear the buildings.

Around 3:30 p.m., the Frankfort Police Department said, ” There is no confirmation of any active shooter, casualties, or anyone injured at the Transportation Cabinet. We have responded to the area and are currently systematically clearing and searching the location. We will provide any updates as soon as they are available.”
A nearby restaurant employee told FOX 56 the police informed them efforts are being made to clear the building. There has been no active shooter found at this time and there are no injuries reported. The SWAT team has responded.
At 4:15 p.m., KSP said there are no shots fired or injuries and an investigation will continue but there is no current threat to the public.
