LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The man accused of killing Jordan Morgan, inside her father’s home, is facing new charges.

Shannon Gilday was charged with strangulation and third-degree assault for allegedly attacking a Madison County Detention Center deputy jailer on Saturday.

According to an arrest citation, a deputy was having trouble breathing and calling for help.

When staffers heard the noise, they looked for and found the deputy fighting with Gilday, who put his right forearm on the deputy’s neck, according to an arrest citation.

The altercation was reportedly caught on jail surveillance.

The 23-year-old is being held for the February murder and home invasion at former lawmaker Wesley Morgan’s Willis Branch Road home.

Gilday is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the new charges next week.
