LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Bluegrass Crimes Stoppers has put out a call for help in solving eight murders from this year.

The board voted unanimously to increase the cash reward for tips leading to an arrest.

One of those cases is a double homicide in May during a 21st birthday celebration.
The victims were 49-year-old James Bost and 20-year-old Amaya Sandifer.

Sandifer, was just 20 years old when her family said her life was cut short after she was killed by a stray bullet—while she was trying to run from gunfire; moments her mother told me she cannot forget.

“Trying to get away from the scene and that is when Amaya got struck by the bullet, the only thing that stopped her car was a car that was parked on the street so she hit the car that was parked on the street,” her mother Priscilla Sandifer said.

The incident happened on May 7 near Green Acres Park and a 40-year-old man was also shot and killed that night.

“It is just very heartbreaking, I mean you can’t put into words how I felt that night and how I am feeling now,” Sandifer said.

While the family is desperate for answers, Crime Stoppers is offering increased rewards for any anonymous tips that lead to arrests in this year’s unsolved cases.

“We broke it down with the lieutenant of the homicide unit to give 2500 to each tip that comes in that solves one of those homicides, so we will do up to 10,000 over the next three months,” said Det. Anthony Delimpo.

It has been one month since her death and the family praying it will get closure before what would have been her 21st birthday.

“She was taken away from us at an early age, I feel like that her life was robbed of her,” Sandifer said.

If you know anything about the crime, Crime Stoppers will pay you up to a $1,000 cash reward. Call the tip line at 859-253-2020 or go online to p3tips.com.
