LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Planning a trip to Lexington this summer? There are plenty of options to choose from, with over 100 hotels in the city according to Yelp.

Planetware recently analyzed almost 8 million hotel reviews from over 9,000 different hotels in 95 cities across the U.S. to determine the hotels with the worst reviews.

According to their analysis, Lexington was tied for 11th with Indianapolis, Phoenix, and Nashville with the highest percentage of one-star and two-star reviews on TripAdvisor.

The top five cities on the list consisted of:

  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
  • Atlantic City, New Jersey
  • Virginia Beach, Virginia
  • San Jose, California
  • South Padre Island, Texas

Planetware’s study also showed that the most common complaints for hotel rooms were:

  • Smell of smoking rooms
  • Not enough toilet paper
  • Bed bugs
  • Thin walls
  • Poor service

According to a USA Today interview with the CEO of a hotel chain, even smokers don’t want to stay in smoking rooms.

Planetware’s study wasn’t all bad for Lexington. According to findings, only 7.8% of Lexington hotels mentioned bad service, which was the best in the study.
