LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Lexington Fire Department put out a fire in a storage building close to a home on Thursday.

Fire crews responded to calls of a storage building on fire before midnight after a neighbor called 911. It happened off of Ashton Drive.

Fire crews said it took about 10 minutes to put the fire out, but the storage building, everything inside, and the two cars close by were damaged in the fire. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.

The homeowners didn’t even know what was happening.

“According to a witness, the people who live here were home at the time but were unaware of the fire. It was first reported by a neighbor who observed it notified the people who live here about the fire,” said Major C.J. Haunz.

The storage unit was about 50 feet from the house.
