JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) – On March 18, Nicholasville police responded to an assault that had taken place, leaving an inmate in critical condition.

Adam Duff was subsequently charged with first-degree assault relating to the assaulted inmate, who was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Nicholasville police.

On Wednesday, the Fayette County Coroner notified detectives the assault victim had passed away. The results of an autopsy performed have yet to be released.

Detectives will be amending the charges on Duff in the next few days, according to the police.

Duff is still in custody at the Jessamine County Detention Center.
