VERSAILLES, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Woodford County Humane Society is happy to announce that Donatello has left the building!
Nearing his fourth anniversary at the shelter, Donatello’s story went viral. The Woodford Humane Society was flooded with phone calls and messages from all over the country.
Donatello has found his forever home just outside of Boston after 4 years and 15 days.
The pup headed north on Tuesday equipped with toys, treats, sweaters for the cold New England winters, and, of course, a bottle of Kentucky bourbon.

According to the Woodford County Humane Society, this will be a big adjustment not just for the pup but for his shelter family too.
“It was an emotional afternoon. It’s really hard to say goodbye to a dog you’ve cared for and loved for so long, but we have no doubts that his new family will be so good to him. There were happy tears all around,” says Beth Oleson, Woodford Humane Society’s Marketing Director. “It’s amazing how quiet a kennel full of dogs can seem when just one familiar voice has left the building.”
They’ll be keeping up with the pup’s new adventures on his Instagram, and you can too!
