LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Dr. Anthony Fauci had a heated debate over politics and science regarding the government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Paul accused Fauci of smearing doctors from Oxford, Harvard, and Stanford who have different positions than him. Fauci replied by calling Paul’s comments personal attacks that are politically motivated.

“Do you really think it’s appropriate to use your $420,000 salary to attack scientists that disagree with you?” Paul asked.

Fauci responded, “The purpose of the committee was to try and get things out; how we can help to get the American public. And you keep coming back to personal attacks on me that have absolutely no relevance to reality”.

Fauci spoke later in the hearing about how Paul’s alleged public smear campaign has affected his family, citing obscene phone calls and threats on his life.
