LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Throughout the month of March, FOX 56 News recognized women who were nominated by their families or peers in our Remarkable Women contest.

This year’s winner is Beatrice Johnson.

Beatrice was raised in the impoverished mountains of eastern Kentucky and proudly earned her GED. She became a valuable employee of the Thompson Hood Veterans Center and is beloved by all the veterans she worked with.

Since retiring from Thomas Hood, and while battling rheumatoid arthritis, Beatrice has dedicated her life to serving the homeless and impoverished communities, including delivering meals to the less fortunate in eastern Kentucky.

Having recently had knee replacement surgery and being wheelchair-bound temporarily, Beatrice stays involved in the causes she supports by seeking donations from companies via telephone.
