LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — FOX 56 News wants to recognize the great contributions women have made to our nation and local communities. Remarkable Women is part of a nationwide Nexstar Media initiative to honor the influence that women have had on public policy, social progress, and the quality of life.

Throughout Women’s History Month, FOX 56 will highlight four local women who inspire, lead and forge the way for other women. It’s not just about one day or one month — it’s about what they do, day-in and day-out.

One woman will be named central Kentucky’s Remarkable Woman and win a $1,000 donation to her charity of choice.

Finalist #1: Angie Ballard – Lexington

Angie Ballard is a self-made woman, who has risen above a life of being raised by her grandparents in rural Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, to owning five hair salons in central Kentucky.

She is an entrepreneur who uses her gifts and talents to help other women become successful in their community and have ownership in their salons.

Not only does Angie help support communities by providing continuing education for the beautician trade, but she also contributes greatly to local and community service projects such as Anjay’s Kids and Anjay’s pets.

Angie is a perfect example of how strength and determination can overcome any obstacle life gives you to become a successful individual who gives to others and helps them also reach their goals in life.
