FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Kentucky State men’s basketball team had lost four straight games entering Saturday’s showdown with Miles College. Jay “Juice” Murrell was determined to not let it slip to five straight.

The Thorobreds star point guard poured in 29 points, including a game-winning triple at the buzzer in overtime, to get the 84-83 win in front of a packed crowd at the Exum Center. He shot 8-of-10 from the field and 8-of-11 at the free throw line, also going a perfect 5-for-5 from distance.

“Juice” also led the team with five assists. He started the second half with four straight buckets without a miss, helping KSU erase a lead from the Golden Bears.

Montrell Jacobs added 15 points, banking in a triple right before halftime and sparking some entertaining banter with him and his opponents leading into the break. KSU came out in the 2nd half with more energy and intensity on both ends of the floor.

Kentucky State improves to 10-9 on the year and 9-7 in the SIAC. They get back in action on February 11th at home against Central State in their last home game of the year, ending the season with four straight road games.
