RICHMOND, Ky. (FOX 56) — The EKU men’s basketball team was picked to finish 10th in the ASUN standings, and used that as motivation all season on the way to a 3rd place finish as the regular season closed this past weekend.
The Colonels (3-seed) are gearing up for the ASUN conference tournament which starts on Tuesday, set to face North Alabama (6-seed) on Tuesday evening. The game will be played at Baptist Health Arena, as higher seeds host games in the tournament.
“Look we play a really good team against North Alabama it’s gonna be a heck of a game I love our group they’ve been relentless they’re tough they’re gritty they guard we get out and run it’s a really fun style of basketball so look our fan support this year has been through the roof we’re leading our league in attendance,” EKU head men’s basketball coach A.W. Hamilton said.
These two teams battled just two weeks ago on Feb. 18, when the Lions came into Richmond and beat EKU in overtime. They scored 18 points in overtime to take a 98-93 win and spoil the Colonels’ senior day.
Tipoff against North Alabama is set for 7 p.m. The winner will face the winner of (2) Liberty and (8) Bellarmine, with Liberty hosting the game if they win as well.
