LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Midwest Charity Classic, scheduled for August 27th at Frederick Douglass High School, won’t go on as planned after organizers cancelled the event on Thursday.

Top players from all across the country were set to come to Lexington to raise money for eastern Kentucky flood relief, but due to Kentucky High School Athletic Association bylaws, high school athletes can’t compete in non-school sponsored fundraising events after the school year has begun.

Kentuckians Reed Sheppard, who was heading the event, along with Travis Perry, were denied a waiver to play in the event.
