LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Sweet 16 is right around the corner in high school basketball here in Kentucky, but first we have to see who will represent each region.

Region tournaments began on Monday night in the Commonwealth with quarterfinal games. Most tournaments wrap up with championship games this weekend.

In Region 11, Lexington Catholic beat Madison Southern 55-42 and Franklin County beat Bryan Station 68-52. This sets up a semifinal matchup as Franklin County looks to make its 4th straight trip to Rupp Arena.

On the other side of the 11th Region bracket, Madison Central beat Tates Creek 63-38 and Frederick Douglass beat Great Crossing 71-60, setting up the other semifinal game.

The semis will be held at EKU’s Baptist Health Arena on Wednesday, with Lexington Catholic and Franklin County at 6:30 p.m. and Madison Central vs. Frederick Douglass following at 8:30 p.m.
