MARION, Il. (FOX 56) — The Morehead State baseball team had a strong regular season which earned them the No. 1 seed in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, but could not turn that into a tournament championship.

The Eagles had two magical walkoff wins in their first game against Eastern Illinois and in the semifinal against Little Rock, but lost in a rematch to Eastern Illinois on Saturday afternoon at Mt. Dew Park.

A double elimination comeback saw the Panthers keep their season alive and get to the tournament title game, and jumped out to a five run lead early on. MSU climbed back to tie it at 5-5, but a late RBI groundout in the 7th inning got the Panthers the winning run.

Eastern Illinois earns an automatic bid into the NCAA baseball tournament, while Morehead State’s season ends just short with a record of 36-20.
