NASSAU, Bahamas (FOX 56) – The Kentucky men’s basketball team began its Bahamas exhibition tour with a win over the Dominican Republic National Select Team, 108-56 on Wednesday night in Nassau.
Oscar Tshiebwe led the team with 17 points and six rebounds, going 8-for-11 from the field and missing both of his three-point attempts. Daimion Collins and Cason Wallace each had 15.
The Wildcats played the first of four exhibition games at Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas, with additional games on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Kentucky has taken exhibition trips to the Bahamas twice already under John Calipari, in 2014 and 2018.
Calipari will not be on the sidelines coaching the team in these games, instead sitting up top while the assistant coaches man the huddles and coach the games. Associate head coach Orlando Antigua led the squad in Wednesday’s game.
This was the first opportunity for Big Blue Nation to see freshmen Cason Wallace and Chris Livingston in the Kentucky threads, as well as transfers Reeves and Adou Thiero. CJ Fredrick also played, who missed the entire 2021-22 season with a hamstring injury after transferring to Kentucky from Iowa.
The next game for the Cats is on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. against Tec De Monterrey.
