LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Kentucky volleyball team scheduled a brutal non-conference schedule this season, with Sunday’s match against No. 2 Nebraska being the third match against top-four teams in the last couple weeks.

The Wildcats lost to the Cornhuskers in straight sets, 3-0 the final at Memorial Coliseum. A five-set loss to No. 3 Louisville on Wednesday gives UK back-to-back losses, dropping to 5-4 on the season.

A back-and-forth first set saw the Wildcats hold a 22-18 lead before the Cornhuskers bounced back, eventually taking the set 27-25 and setting the tone for the rest of the match. The other sets tallied 25-20 in the second and 25-16 in the third.

Setter Emma Grome racked up 30 assists on the afternoon with former SEC player of the week Reagan Rutherford leading the team with nine kills.

Kentucky begins conference play on Saturday, September 24 with its SEC opener against LSU at home for a two-match set that weekend.
