LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Kentucky Wildcats are headed to Greensboro, North Carolina, to begin the NCAA tournament.
John Calipari and his team picked up the No. 6 seed in the East Region and will face No. 11 Providence.
The team gathered on Selection Sunday to find out their tournament draw and location. The Wildcats are in search of their first NCAA Tournament win since 2019 when they reached the Elite Eight.
Kentucky (21-11) lost in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals to Vanderbilt 80-73 on Friday.
Providence is led by former Kentucky player Bryce Hopkins, who played limited minutes last season in a Wildcats uniform but has excelled for the Friars this year.
The first-round matchup will take place at 7:10 p.m. Friday at Greensboro Coliseum.
