LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Kentucky men’s soccer team took the field on Tuesday to play its 4th straight match against a ranked opponent, taking on No. 21 Lipscomb.
The No. 6 Wildcats took care of business with a 3-2 victory at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington, improving to 5-0-2 on the year and 5-0-1 at home.
This win continues Kentucky’s long run of dominance at The Bell Soccer Complex, now going 18 matches without a loss that dates back to March 18, 2021 against Marshall. Their home record stands at 15-0-3 since the run began.
Two goals from senior Eythor Bjorgolfsson (10′, 46′) put Kentucky up 2-0 early in the second half, but back-to-back goals by the Bisons within three minutes of each other (57′, 60′) tied the match up at 2-2.
Shortly after, a penalty kick in the 68th minute by Robert Screen was buried to the back of the net, breaking the tie and giving UK the 3-2 win.
Kentucky hits the road for two matches away from Lexington, starting with Georgia State on Saturday, September 24.
