LEXINGTON, KY. (FOX 56) — Kentucky baseball is headed to the NCAA Super Regionals after beating Indiana, 4-2 in front of a record Kentucky Proud Park crowd on Monday night. UK will play LSU in the Super Regional round in Baton Rouge.
The Wildcats were able to stave off elimination three times to win the regional championship. It’s the second time Kentucky has won the regional title, winning back in 2017.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning, Kentucky responded with two runs off sacrifice flies in the bottom half.
Burkes was named the Lexington Regional Most Outstanding Player. Hunter Gilliam, Jase Felker, Ryan Waldschmidt, Nolan McCarthy, Austin Strickland, and Mason Moore made the All-Region team.
