Former Kentucky Gov. John Y. Brown dies at 88
John Y. Brown Jr., the 55th governor of Kentucky, has died at the age of 88. The former governor was born in Lexington in 1933 where he graduated from the University of Kentucky and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Brown served as governor from 1979-1983 and was a pioneer in growing the fast-food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken to international prominence.
