LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Our next storm system has arrived. It will bring repeated rounds of heavy rainfall throughout the day today.

While heavy rain is the main concern, a few strong to severe storms are possible as well. Most of the viewing area is under a level one risk for severe weather, while a few of our southwestern counties are under a level 2 risk.

The main threat today will be areas of flooding, but a few gusty thunderstorms can not be ruled out.

Most of central Kentucky will receive 1-3″ of rain with the highest totals to the northwest. Areas in southeastern Kentucky could see half an inch to an inch or so of rain.

Saturday will start with a few morning showers then it’s trending drier by the afternoon with windy conditions. Winds could be gusting 40-45 MPH.
